Portage Area News Roundup of Social and Sports Notes
Harvey Gilbert and Consrugger attended a hockey game in Portage la Prairie last Thursday. Mrs Bert Forbister and Mr Henry Duncan visited Portage la Prairie on Tuesday. A crowd cleared snow from the rink as skating and hockey were enjoyed in recent days. Mr S Cooper is getting metal treatment for his back in Winnipeg and friends wish him a swift recovery. Visitors to the Thomas and Groves homes included Mr and Mrs George Bull and children of Springbrook, and Mr and Mrs Percy Smith with Bobby and Gertie McKelvy of MacGregor. Our correspondent Mrs RD Birkett is ill with influenza this week and Mrs Lake has aided with duties. More visits to the Shaw home from Winanee and MacGregor residents are noted. Gloria and Garnet Groves have influenza. Garnet drove to Gladstone for medicine in a brisk two hours with a lively team. A card from a horse buyer reached Garnet, prompting a caution to be careful with deals in case the team is needed again.
