December Springbrook 4 Her Club Meeting Recap
The December meeting of the Springbrook 4 H Club was held on Wednesday December 7 with 13 members present along with leaders and visitors. Dennis Lewis leads the new Potato Club and Mrs Lewis Mrs Kowal Chuck oversee the Garden Club with Rosemary Lowe and Allan Lewis as junior leaders. Christmas cake draw proceeds totaled about 27 dollars funding Christmas parcels for sick or handicapped residents and Children's Welfare. Next meeting is slated for Wednesday January 18.

Austin HiC Hosts Wog Group For Day Of Exchanges
Austin United Church Hi C group welcomed 27 Harrow United Church HiC members from Winnipeg on Wednesday December 28. After arrival, a community sing and games fostered friendship, with Harrow and Austin rinks curling and broomball, followed by supper, hay ride, museum visit, Wanderer's Paradise, and dancing for 55 people including coach driver. Appreciation extended to Mrs. M Thomson, Louise Stephenson, and Grace Russell for tables and meals, plus tractors and wagons and the hay.

Curlers Begin Fun Lively Bonspiel Play In MacGregor
Nee Pawa's annual bonspiel opened with 86 rinks in action. Don Barber Glen Lye Ron Emerson and Ron Borton of MacGregor participate. British Consols start with 13 rinks and two knockout groups decide MacGregor reps by next Wednesday. Local rinks listed include Kilfoyle Haine Barber Hay and Lye. Rural area entries under Alf Graham Don Barber Bob Anderson and Harold Wright curl Saturday Jan 14 at 7 pm to choose representatives for Neepawa.

CGIT Vesper Service Held by Local Group
On Sunday evening December 18 the CGIT held a Vesper service led by Mrs A M Hay and others. Girls marched in singing As With Gladness Men of Old, with Larry Moore at the organ. Ushers included Rowena Firth and others. Barbara Boaz read scripture, Frances Albinet told The Story of Jesus Birth, and the CGIT choir sang Mark the Herald Angels Sing. The offering featured In the Bleak Midwinter, taken by Beverly and Barbara Woods with Betty Scora and Lynne Zimmerman. A candlelight dedication followed, then a reading of the CGIT purpose and the service closed with Taps and a benediction by Rev Fargey.

Dairy Short Course Opens in Brandon Centre
Dairy Short Course runs January 30 to February 3 at the Brandon Extension Centre with tuition set at five dollars. Applications may cover part or all of the course and must be received by January 23. Katrime Good Neighbors Meet At Mrs Tarr Home
The Good Neighbors group will gather January 18 for a quilting session. Several local families shared holiday visits, including Mr and Mrs H Duncan with Mrs C Alson in Muir, and numerous trips between Katrime Winnipeg MacGregor and Portage areas. Tom Telford recently returned home from Winnipeg General Hospital and is improving.
