Return to school as exams loom and curling rinks race on
Students return after holidays to mid year exams starting January 14 and a busy curling schedule. Elaine Thomson, Darwin Anderson, Hartley Harland, Blaine Wicklund, Campbell Makinson, Anne Lamb, Rodney Ewen, Ron Russell and Jim Randall are among locals who won and lost in Saturday draws. Terry Williams rink went 4 2 but no prize. Anderson’s rink even at 3 3. Wait until next year for more action.

New Variety of Durum Wheat Licensed for Canada
Agriculture Minister C L Shuttleworth announced a new amber durum wheat variety named Ramsay has been licensed for sale across Canada and is being distributed in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. It results from a Carleton cross with a Palestine durum and offers improved rust resistance over Minchum or Stewart, targeting farmers in rust-prone regions.
