Sidney district to 1980 weather shapes a tough year
A 1980 look back at Sidney Manitoba details a harsh year driven by early snow and long winter. Farmers ran out of feed and faced high feed costs as cattle losses and tight finances followed. Despite favorable stock turnout later, hail and uneven rainfall produced mixed crops and ongoing worry. Community notes celebrate H clubs prizes, births, weddings, retirements, and staff changes as residents anticipate a hopeful new year.
