Agricultural Representative Wesley E. Henderson extends appreciation to local clubs and leaders for cooperation and successful year in Extension Service projects. He notes strong community leadership, friendships, and hospitality, and wishes a happy and successful 1956 New Year.
Dear Editor the Committee for an Agricultural Memorial Museum has won enthusiastic support from the Union of Manitoba Municipalities. The letter details favorable reception at the convention thanks to President Cliff McCae Reeve Lawrence Smith and Rev L Henderson. An invitation is issued for the annual meeting January 18 at Portage la Prairie City Hall Court House with director elections. The note highlights the museum's central Austin site and a historic Pioneer gas tractor from D Laing of Stonewall used in local development.
Mrs George Duncan MacGregor extends thanks to Austin and MacGregor United Church organizations W L LA and W A for the Christmas gifts of fruit cookies and candies and for the kind greetings. It is nice to live among thoughtful people and shops. The year 1956 will be healthy and prosperous for all.
News from Katrime and District highlights a Friday whist drive with a 1956 Ford as prize drive and New Year visits. Reports celebrate birthdays, school reopenings, hospital hampers, and village social events with multiple local families, trips to Brandon and Winnipeg, and a community hall dance.
Local notes show numerous residents traveling to Winnipeg Portage and Sudbury for holidays. Several families hosted relatives over Christmas and New Year. A Y W C raffle raised 7.30 dollars with the winning cake going to Mrs. Bob Sims.
The Aid thanks Mrs J Heselwood for selling many tickets. Mr and Mrs Glenn Harkness and boys visited Portage relatives over Christmas. Miss Joan Shaw of Winnipeg spent Christmas and New Year at home. Mr and Mrs W Lustman and family from Altamont joined Shaw family for Christmas. Mr and Mrs John Lauder of Oakville spent New Year with family. Mrs E Street and Mrs Kathleen Lye thank friends and United Church W A for cards letters flowers and parcels at Christmas and wish a Happy New Year.
Mr and Mrs Alex MacDonald and Mrs Ella McKay extend heartfelt thanks to organizations neighbors and friends who remembered them at Christmas and for kindnesses shown over time Also grateful to MacGregor friends who aided their parents past months Mel Helena MacDonald grateful for support and to hospital staff and friends who gave a gift before leaving MacGregor Hospital Margaret Wiebe wishes a happy New Year to all who showed kindness
