Winnipeg visitors, Carman and Pine Creek residents spent Christmas and New Year in town. Kenora Thistles meet Portage Terriers in Portage la Prairie with high expectations. rink events and whist drive drew crowds. Community notes praise Christmas trees, church concerts, and local fundraising efforts for the needy.
The Herald extends hearty greetings for good health and a prosperous 1934 as it enters its 38th year of publication. The publisher thanks readers and patrons for nearly a quarter century of service and asks for continued cooperation from readers and advertisers to keep communities on the map. The note also expresses gratitude for Christmas goodwill messages from business associates and friends.
The next Southend School dance is set for Friday January 12. Portage intermediates visit the local rink on Monday January 8 at 8 pm for a hockey match. Travel by road has been difficult recently but Portage may travel by CPR to ensure arrival.
