Auto plates start at 2K450, possibly reaching 3K. Community lighting brightens homes and businesses, with Mr Hevert Stratton displaying an ancient Julius Caesar coin. Local hockey sees tight second half as Poplar Point falters

In a rugged Thursday showdown at Pilot Mound Poplar Point led 7-4 before the final period where opponents surged ahead five to one. Jim Saunders led the Point with four goals while Don Blight added three and Hextall plus John Miller each netted two. Allan McGregor and Jack Roscoe paced the home club with two goals each, and Pete McGregor contributed three assists. Garnet Critchlow tied up Hextall’s threat as Allen McGregor and Roscoe top-scored to date. The game reflected a slow start by Harv Gilbert and hinted at shifting team dynamics with Smith joining MacGregor’s ranks and manager Palmer anticipated to miss much of the season.
