Children's Aid Society History and Central Manitoba Services
The Children’s Aid Society of Central Manitoba notes it chartered on May 31, 1934, started with one social worker and one stenographer, and now has fifteen staff providing child welfare services across about 9,000 square miles, 250 towns and villages. It stresses the private agency status, government grant administration, and a fifty-member board, urging annual fund campaigns as no community chest exists in Central Manitoba. Last year over 1,700 children received services, with hundreds of local youths relying on such welfare support.
