Manitoba Referendum March 13 on Temperance Act

Electors in Manitoba will vote on March 13 whether to enact the Manitoba Temperance Act aimed at abolishing alcoholic abuses. The act would prohibit beverage alcohol as far as provincial power allows, with a short campaign by temperance and liquor interests. The synopsis notes provisions for banning licensed bars and clubs, permitting some hospital and patient use, and prohibiting hotel and business place storage of liquor, while allowing manufacture outside the province to continue.
