Re-routing Highway No 1 Proposed
The good roads branch of the department of public works recommends moving Trans-Canada Highway between Portage la Prairie and Sidney south of the CPR tracks. The 40 mile stretch would shorten by three miles and remove dangerous curves, with grading and gravelling estimated at 550000 dollars this year. The plan is a recommendation likely to be dealt with in the near future, despite MacGregor’s council preference to keep the road on its present path through North Norfolk municipality.
