Public Schools Financing Inadequate And Unfair
Howard J. Loewen of Manitoba Teachers' Society spoke at a Pine Creek Division Association meeting in MacGregor Collegiate on Tuesday February 1. He argued Manitoba public school funding is inadequate and unfair, with static provincial grants over six years while operating costs rose. He cited per pupil costs rising from 230 to 280 and provincial support falling from 86 to 110, leaving higher local property tax burdens and limited cost equalization across 48 divisions.
