Manitoba Bon Spiel Opens With 153 Rinks Competing

The Manitoba 45th annual bonspiel opened Tuesday with 153 rinks taking part. Community events include church meetings, a three act comedy drama Jimmy, Be Careful on Feb 17, and a Valentine tea Feb 1. Local notices cover illness, society conventions, and rink activities through February.

Former MacGregorites to Celebrate Golden Wedding

Greetings are sent to Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Watson as they mark their golden wedding anniversary on Tuesday. The couple lived in MacGregor for over forty years after moving from Holyoke and Galt, later relocating to Portland in 1920. They married February 14, 1883, on a farm northeast of MacGregor, later ran the Stanley House hotel. Mrs. Watson’s hospitality and Mr. Watson’s genial hosting are fondly remembered by locals.

Roseisle Boy Dies After Hockey Puck Incident

Last Thursday night George Green aged five was fatally injured while playing hockey at the Roseisle rink. He was struck over the heart by a puck and collapsed after skating a short distance. The game involved Roseisle and a Miami team.
