Hospital premiums won't be changed says Manitoba health minister
Health Minister C. H. Witney told the Legislature that hospital premiums will stay the same this year despite rising hospital costs. He announced a trimmed $3,000,000 from proposed 1967 budgets, with 80 public hospitals seeking an 20 percent rise but others calling for restraint. The 1967 68 health estimates total 83 648 000 up 13 million, with 12 million for the Manitoba Hospital Commission and 4.9 million from cost increases. He noted preventive medicine gains and urged using weekend hospital operating rooms to meet midweek demand.

Legislature Debates Time Act Change for Manitoba
Manitoba legislature moves to standardize Daylight Time with the Official Time Act for second reading. The bill would make daylight hours annual from the last Sunday in April to the last Sunday in October across the province, with Winnipeg aligning to the period and non Winnipeg areas offered a choice of standard time shifts after Labor Day or on the last Sunday in October. Opposition leader Russ Paulley questions if this is a recurring timing debate, as veteran T P Hillhouse notes it is the fifth Time Act discussion since he joined. Debates adjourned.
