Farm Force to Decrease In The Next 20 Years

Ottawa reports a federal labor study predicts Canada’s farm labor force will shrink from about 690 000 to 300 000–500 000 by the late 1970s. Reasons include larger, more mechanized farms, fewer unpaid family workers, and rising urban employment, with women’s share dropping from 13 percent in 1946 to seven percent by 1958.
