Private William Isaac Lunn son of Mr and Mrs Wm Lunn was killed in action on December Listy. He was twenty six and enlisted in the Winnipeg Grenadiers on January 25 1916. Pte Lunn was well known around Austin, his parents having resided in the district since coming from grand twenty eight years ago.
The Emmeline group reports knitting fifty eight pairs of socks this winter with sixteen sent to trenches and forty two pairs plus seven caps packed and sent to the St Johns Association on January 25 at Mrs. Gales. Six day shirts were sent to the Red Cross Society.

G McMillin and daughters returned from Portage on Wednesday. Miss J McKercher died Sunday morning after a short illness. Mrs J E Farncomb and Miss Farncomb spent weekend in Portage. H Farncomb and bride returned January 12 from Listowel Ontario after honeymoon travels. Community shocked by death of Mrs Arthur Smith at Portage hospital after operation. Social evening at School-house was well attended with a lively guessing contest won by Miss May Farncomb. Bagot Grain Growers Concert postponed to Thursday February 9 with a $25 quilt for Red Cross. Remember February 9 in Bagot.
