Special anthems and carols will be rendered at St Pauls Church after the evening service next Sunday. Tomorrow the twenty first is the shortest day as days begin lengthening. A skating session is announced from 2 to 4 pm on New Year’s Eve and day. Jekell e welcomes Miss nice Tarry home from Winnipeg hospital. F C Borton will auction stock and chattels of Mrs G Young on Saturday at the garage west of the Bank of Montreal, MacGregor, starting at pan. Temple Lodge At Home Dec 27 at 8 pm with cards, refreshments and dancing. officer installation at 2 30. Isabel Fallis undergoes appendicitis surgery in Portage hospital Tuesday. Merchants urge Christmas shopping at home to support Manitoba towns. Christmas Day Divine Service at Pauls Church 1 pm and a War Service in St Pauls Ch. Rev R H Fotheringham to preach at United Church Sunday night. L O L 2811 dance at Orange Hall Friday with Palmer’s four piece orchestra. 50c admissions, 25c ladies. John Little and Robt Stirling recovering from illness. Death of A Campbell aged 74 at Chater. widow Mrs R W McGregor of MacGregor extends sympathy. Young People’s Club met at Rev R H Fotheringham’s home for a pre Christmas social with games and lunch.
The Manitoba Herald announces no issue next week as is common for Christmas week. The first issue in the new year will be Thursday January 3. A meeting of S O B A No 648 will be held in the Orange Hall on December 20. A regu lar monthly meeting for December 26 is planned with good attendance expected. A novelty dance is set for New Year’s Eve at the Masonic Hall with music and merriment. Rose dance postponed. Rev W Price reports improved but not yet convalescent after erysipelas affecting eyes and ears.
Four birth notices from December announce newborn sons to the families of O Nohigren at At Mac, W Pepper at MacGregor, H I Collins at Portage Hospital, and other hosts including Mrs Fox's facility. The December dates specify December 18th for two births and December 19th for another, with parental names given.
