Two men from Harkett Ontario were killed in a two car collision Sunday on the Black Ridge road ten miles west of Nipton. Two other men were injured and taken to Nipigon hospital. Names and identities were withheld by police pending notification of families.

A coroner's jury in Natal British Columbia urged changes to the Mines Act to regulate dumping of overburden from Kaiser Coal Co. open-pit operations after John Louis La Paire and Shirley Elaine La Paire were killed when a slide buried their car on November 24. No specific recommendations were made, and BC lacks regulations for inspecting waste heaps.
Arran Olupoung ve, connected to a Saskatoon drug and wholesale firm, won the Saskatchewan Liberal Association presidency on the first ballot. He defeated Regina lawyer Gary Wilson to succeed Herb Sparrow of North Battleford, who led the party for several years before joining the Senate. Ed Bayda, Ben Gutak, and Gary Wilson were elected vice presidents.
The Icebreaker will not embark on an experimental voyage to Churchill this winter because owners could not arrange cargo to cover trial costs. Transport Minister Paul Hellyer spoke on the matter in Parliament Friday.

Bethel Church hosts a series start with a Moody science film Dust or Destiny at MacGregor and Sidney, with Sunday School at 10, worship at 1, film at 7 30. Anglican Church in Austin invites all to Holy Communion at 11 80 and Holy Communion service. United Church Austin Sidney Pastoral Charge announces White Gift Sunday with combined services at 10 and 11 30.
