Mrs. Manns Laid to Rest Pioneer of Edrans District
The funeral of Mrs. Critchlow Manns was held in Austin on December 3 with Rev. GL Armstrong presiding. Interment followed in Austin cemetery. Born in Leek England she moved to Canada forty seven years ago and farmed near Firdale before settling in Austin. Survived by husband William and two daughters Evelyn of Brandon and Mabel of Victoria BC.

Austin Gladsone Highway Work Delayed Into 1939
A fragmentary report shows the Austin Gladsone Highway project extending toward 1939 due to late season work and funding gaps. Three miles remain at each end with initial municipal grants totaling around 24,000 dollars and later additions bringing government money toward a total near 22,000 dollars, as Westbourne and Northbourne collaborate on the long awaited highway completion.
