Shop Early During Cutting Season
Local merchants have decided to close stores at four o'clock daily except Saturday during cutting period so locals can stock up the fields. Public cooperation requested as harvest proceeds and the crop in the district is harvested safely.

Two More MacGregor Boys Make Supreme Sacrifice
Canadian communities mourn as two MacGregor youths Pte Clarence Stinson and Pte David Tarr die in action on August 10. Stinson, 26, enlisted with Glen Campbell's battalion in 1916 and served at the front since January. Tarr, 23, joined The Chums in April 1917, was wounded in October, recovered, and returned to France in April. Memorials note national bonds reaching 5 billion pounds and express deep sympathy for bereaved families.
