Sparrows Disrupt MacGregor Power Supply
A series of sparrow-caused short circuits cut power to MacGregor's south side over several weeks. Hydro worker Harris Atkins indicates young birds perch on high poles at the west end, triggering transformer faults. The outages alarmed Main Street merchants but were quickly fixed by replacing fuses and restoring service with Manitoba Power Commission assistance.
