Elevators across the province are urged by the Canadian Wheat Board to facilitate flax receipt and shipment for unrestricted delivery after harvest. Companies are told there will be no flax delivery quotas and the Wheat Board will prioritise car requests from country points for flax shipments.
Miss L McLeod of Togo Sask visited Nelson home for ten days. Doreen and Georgina Baxter of Glenella holiday with Mr and Mrs C Cooper and relatives. Mrs Thos Robinson of Prince Albert arrives for a month with sister in law Mrs Geo Pears. Mrs R A Stone returned to Ninette after shortening her visit due to Mrs John Green’s pneumonia. Congratulations to Lois Harkness Geraldine Stone and Willy MacDonald for Grade IX exams and Doreen Thomson for Saskatchewan Grade XI. Mr George Copeland dies suddenly at his brother in law J H Davey’s home. Born in Barrie Ontario he came to Toulon then Saskatchewan and was 63. Survived by widow two daughters and a son. Funeral Thursday at Westbourne with interment there.
Mr W Burch builds a new barn. Miss Hazel Poyter from Austin will teach at Bagot school. Mr A Kalberg enplans a new granary with his Winnipeg-born father helping. The death occurred at St Boniface Hospital on Saturday August 8 in his 69th year. Arthur L M McLean retired farmer, born in England April 8 1873, served in the South African War, came to Canada 1902 and to Virden then MacGregor. Survived by wife Alice Louise Cushing, daughter Dora Sims and son Aubray, two brothers in Canada and England. Funeral at McKillop’s Portage Chapel conducted by Rev L J Adams with burial Hillside cemetery.

The Manitoba Game Commission sets a 17 day prairie chicken season from October 1 to 17 and a Hungarian partridge season from October 1 to November 4 with bag limits raised. Hunters anticipate a good season if shells are not rationed.
