Continental energy policy proposed by Canadian oil executive

In John S. Pyen’s view, Canada should push for an integrated energy policy with the United States to avoid losing ground to rivals. Pyen, new CEO of the Canadian Petroleum Association, urges closer economic ties and clear national policy while noting Canada’s need to invest massively in energy projects amid evolving rules. He stresses Canada risks being left out if itdoes not align with the U.S. as its main trading partner.

No Olympic Lottery Sales In The West

British Columbia Saskatchewan and Manitoba will not permit the sale of lottery tickets to fund the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games. Manitoba aligned with this position earlier, while Saskatchewan and British Columbia joined. A Western Co operative Lottery mechanism was proposed to fund events like the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games, with grants to qualifying groups from a fund created from a portion of proceeds. An inter provincial committee of ministers will oversee grants and an implementation task force will draft plans by September 15. Each province will appoint two delegates to a working committee to explore cooperation in recreation sports facilities and research.
