Canada faces a home front gas saving drive as citizens are urged to cut gasoline use while carrying on normal duties. The government asks motorists to walk or take streetcars for short trips and avoid wasteful speeds to conserve fuel for victory.
The report notes a steady rise in infantile paralysis cases from July across Manitoba with expectations of more in August and September. Though not a cause for panic, vigilance is urged, especially in children, as onset is sudden and varies from mild sickness to severe symptoms. Early medical care is essential.
The notice warns that diarrhoea and back muscle soreness indicate possible infantile paralysis. Early convalescent serum exists in Manitoba but must be given before paralysis.
