Community Loyalty and Co operation

Loyalty to community interests is the largest form of patriotism. Note the man who is loyal and true to his own community and you will find in him a man in whom the country can repose absolute confidence in any emergency that falls for his allegiance. Some must take hold and carry on the work of churches and fraternal societies. Some of the men with a special head for business need to work in some organizations for the commercial and other needed development of the community. Some need to work in clubs for educational purposes, and for more interesting social activities. There is something that each one should do, and we must all take hold to do something in these public lines, if we expect that a town is going to keep up with the game. The willing horse bears the whole load in saying that is often borne out in community work, and it is too often true that a few people are in doing more than their share. The men and women who are giving time voluntarily for the good of the community are the people who, if in business, are deserving of the support of every citizen as part of their reward for efforts on behalf of others. Loyalty to your own community means hearty cooperation with your neighbors in any and every thing that makes for the good of the community. Only by cooperation within a community can the greatest good be accomplished, and where this cooperation is wholehearted, no task is too difficult.

Canadian Pacific Crop Report Urges Rain Across Prairies

The weekly crop report from the Canadian Pacific Railway Agricultural Department says much of the Prairie Provinces lack rain needed for grain development. Warm days and cool nights dominated the week with local showers in parts of Manitoba and Alberta and light rain in western Saskatchewan. If temperatures stay high, much of the wheat could open prematurely and harvesting may begin sooner but with limited damage overall.
