Date stamps on farm machinery to aid buyers and sellers
Agriculture Minister Sam Askiw announced an order-in-council requiring date stamps on self propelled farm equipment including tractors combines and swathers. The date of manufacture must appear on a serial plate or an attached plate or embossed on the machine to curb misrepresentation in trade and sales across Saskatchewan and Manitoba. A second amending regulation to the Farm Machinery and Equipment Act allows longer mutually set trial periods for purchases and rent increases, clarifying the minimum 10 days and permitting extensions by agreement between buyer and seller or landlord and tenant.
