Will Apply Law If The Postmen Strike

Revenue Minister Benson says government will apply the law to strike actions by postal workers if a one day strike date is set. Postmaster-General Cote joins Benson in declaring the government could act to deem the strike illegal. Civil servants enjoyed a Dominion Day three day weekend with holiday pay added, while some postal workers received premiums. The Public Service Staff Relations Act makes strikes potentially illegal with penalties for leaders and workers per day of action.
