Highway Department Prepares for Spring Road Work

The Highway Department plans a 1 725 40 highway program this year under Minister W R. Stark. An early start on the Trans Canada highway toward the boundary aims to begin within weeks with 5000 loads of gravel from Gray to Carberry. Crews will link Brandon east to the western province, with work also in Dauphin McCreary and nearby districts. Maintenance focuses on restoring provincial roads after winter and spring weather. Tenders advertise 600 cubic yards of gravel for the Brandon Highway to be loaded at a nearby railway gravel pit.
