Manitoba farm credit to shift away from long term loans
Mantova expected to exit long term farm credit field as Manitoba moves to curb provincial loans. A directive briefly blocked new applications, later reversed, while rates rise to 7.5 percent. The federal program remains more aggressive, approving about 28 million in loans last year versus 7 million provincially. The province will not abandon credit entirely, keeping about 40 million in loans and repaying around 1.5 million annually.
