Hudson’s Bay Company records show century‑spanning precision, linking rabbit scarcity to declines in predators and broader wildlife.

The BBC report highlights the polythene nets called Coursene used by British trawlers. Made from high density polythylene yarn, they weighed a third of manilla nets, resisted rot, and performed in extreme cold. Their buoyancy reduces strain and keeps the trawl mouth wide open, with no shrinkage, improving efficiency at sea.
