The Hon. W R ister of Public Work orders a Manitoba publicity drive to curb motor vehicle deaths. In three months and ten days of 1935 nine people have died on roads, a drop in accidents requires personal responsibility, courtesy, and adherence to traffic laws and safety training.
Monday May 6th has been proclaimed a national holiday in emeration of the 25th and related events. Officials urged participation and local observances across communities as schedules adjust for the commemorative day.
The community records the death of David Sutherland of Stourtown at 77 after long illness. Born 1838 in Ramsay Ontario, he built hardware business in Lucknow Wingham and later Diaphin before moving to Mackegar. Survived by wife, two daughters, two sons. funeral at United Church with Masonic rites at MacGregor cemetery.
At a North Norfolk Council meeting a petition from Bagot UFM urged testing all cattle for tuberculosis. The council agreed to cooperate, with petitions to ratepayers in the eastern municipality. Manitoba areas include Portage la Prairie where local farmers test herd TB at their own cost and tests are provided with government aid. Health officials note prior tubercular milk linked deaths fell after testing began.
