Austin Gladstone road not paved in 64 says MLA
The Austin to Gladstone section of Highway No. 34 will not be paved this year but hopes rise for a future paving. The 1964 road program excludes this stretch, despite pleas from North Norfolk and Westbourne rural municipalities, the Gladstone Chamber of Commerce, and local farmers. Nelson Shoemaker urged action, with Minister Weir noting plans to pave No. 34 from No. 3 to No. 23 and urging communities to start at No. 3 and move north. Residents are told to keep pressing for action for eventual paving.
