Some Not Paying Tax Shoemaker Says in Legislature
Nelson Shoemaker told the Manitoba Legislature he knows of several people who refuse to pay new provincial taxes on hydro and telephone service. Receipted bills have been issued after cheques with taxes deducted. Hydro and MTS cannot suspend service, as the amount owed has been paid. Attorney-General McLean says Hydro and MTS have legal authority for action.

Village for Elderly Proposed in Manitoba Legislature
A debate on higher old age pensions featured R O Lissaman proposing self sufficient villages for the aged. He argued such communities would lower societal costs and restore purpose by letting seniors handle their affairs and contribute, unlike homes where loneliness reigns. The motion urged a federal pension increase to 100 dollars monthly by 1967 and was adjourned.
