Manitoba Legislature Week Follows March Rhythm And Debate
The Manitoba legislature week opened with talks to protect bearing animals, a vital revenue source, and an amended Economic Survey draft. Opposition questioned a $15,000 expenditure aimed at government support from five social creditors, while a motion picture tax proposal failed in committee. Comrade Litterick clashed with Magistrate Graham as the House split on debate. A Thursday vote proposed cutting government costs by about $800,000, arguing for 10 percent reductions beyond health and education, drawing sharp rebuttals and party dissension before a vote largely against the motion.

Budget clash delays talks as Bracken parties clash
Friday afternoon Conservatives challenged Bracken and moved to cut individual expenditures. In recorded votes the allied opposition blocked most reductions, leaving only one cut of ten dollars. Bracken noted a SA deficit of 472000 and proposed seeking Dominion aid. The government warned it would cut debt and seek dissolution for an early election if revenue fell short. Mr Garson, Provincial Treasurer, presented the Budget in a calm, considerate manner.
