The Austin hockey team, now improved, defeated the local intermediates in overtime last Thursday. Dick Carruthers starred for the visitors with a hat trick, Fred Young secured the winner after eight minutes of extra time, and Howard Turner scored twice for the locals. The squad eyes a closed-in rink next year as their late form aids chances. Also, Jim Conacher is praised for O'Connor and Jim McFadden is picked as best rookie. The author offers all star and alternate selections, naming Turk Broda and several legends, while noting Syl Apps may retire and Broda could join. Gaye Stewart’s 61 games across a 60-game schedule, and Doug Bentley’s high scoring rank are highlighted.
