Grazing Conditions Vary Amid Rain Spoiling Feed
Reported improvements in grazing vary by district as six weeks of rain have damaged large areas of dry feed. Ground remains wet with slow new growth. some Mitchell run areas survived and parts of the country greened, though overall conditions improved as winter drought fears eased. Sheep conditions are good across the Central West, with many flocks fat and increasing joining rates indicating confidence in new growth. Water supplies remain unsettled with dams filling in some areas yet many empty dams unchanged, and some back waters pumped to provide fresh supply. expected dryout before August unless more rain arrives. The sheep market is quiet with few transactions, but rising wool prices tempt sellers while buyers show little interest.
