From the Imperial Army headquarters at Luzana near Guastala in February a council of war set troop movements toward Cremona. Prince Eugene, Prince Commercy and Count Staremberg led detachments through harsh roads to seize the town. serious fighting followed the breach at Margaret gate with heavy casualties on both sides.
