Distress to Morner and Warneecock Stage Review

A London Evening review describes Tuesday night’s performance of the Distress to Morner and the Warneecock. Mrs Barry as Hermoide praised for variety of powers, Mr Aickin as Pyrrhus noted for manly tone and presence, with Pylades well played by Clinch. The two act dialogue is deemed minor, but the Scotch song by Miss Brown and the light overture entertain, promising the work as a pleasant musical diversion at Bedford coffee-boxes.

Supremacy in the British legislature debated by Regulus

Regulus argues against a supreme legislature over the colonies, condemning taxation without representation. He asserts Parliament cannot bind Americans, defends representation as the cornerstone of taxation, and attacks the notion of a Tory supreme power. He cites the Crown, Lords, and Commons as checks and warns tyranny if misused.

British Letters from America Describe War Skirmishes and Political Rumor

A Whitby reader forwards a Philadelphia letter dated August 23 describing ongoing skirmishes between British and American forces, the destruction of Castle William, and ships carrying troops, livestock, and supplies. It notes Congress adjournment, forthcoming British naval actions, and reports on Loyalist sentiment, trade concerns, and public notices from Bristol and Waterford with political criticism of local address signatures.
