Recruiting parties in Quebec seek Royal Emigrants volunteers

Intelligence from Quebec dated Aug 3 reports a recruiting party beating for volunteers to join William Dunbdar's company of the Royal Emigrants. Promises include land grants and quit rent exemptions, plus a gratuity. Other dispatches note Indian affairs officials at Montreal opposing intruder access, and reports from Cork about powder, saltpetre, and militia formations in Maryland. Fire at a Rotherhithe block-maker’s disturbed nearby boats and buildings. Several obituaries and marriages enrich London notices, with ship arrivals and port movements in Deal and Portsmouth.
