Notable Elections and Naval Dispatches In Late September
The report covers Leominster choosing a representative to replace Thomas Hill, a Norfolk seafaring tale with poison suspicion in Chaltenham, plus a fleet movement update. It notes Captain Tathwell commanding the Kent bound for Jamaica, 150 men aboard, and ships to the East Indies. Port summaries include arrivals at Portsmouth and Deal, with multiple ships and captures described. The piece also details American Continental activities, Savannah resolutions, and South Carolina governance changes.

Port News From Plymouth Dock Silent Ships and War Goods
Extra from Plymouth Dock dated Sept 27 reports the brig Samuel from Nantes in 32 days bound to Petersburg, owned by Stockton, master Watson. At Nantes 12 to 14 American loading ships, brigs, and schooners carry military stores in wheat exchanges. A large ship Hancock and Adams left Nantes bound to Fireeia under Captain Smith. Watson could not confirm cargo or origin. The ship was examined by port commandant for contraband, which was relanded, then reshipped later that night with seals added. The mate of the brig was aboard.
