Printed paper defamatory to Robert Ledger at Symons Wharf

In a Lonous dated May 21 1763 a printed paper accuses Robert Ledger of distributing a list of traders to tempt shipments to his wharf at Symons’s Wharf, while Maddison and Etherington are named as agents. The author denounces the allegations as false and defends Ledger’s commercial plans, promising access to the original agreement at Symon’s Wharf and praising efforts to boost trade in Gareborough amid a harsh time. A postscript from AGRICOLA complains of cider tax harms and urges repeal to avoid ruin of orchards and livelihoods.
