Ships sail past disaster as Dutch vessel succumbs to worms
Four ships left with 4740 men aboard. Dutch ship Burning Lamp, laden for Amsterdam with 8000 pieces of eight, sprang a leak from worm damage and was raked for speed. Its hull, two years old, was eaten open fore and aft, threatening a probable sinking. Other ships reach Fo chia as fate remains uncertain. Casualties include drownings in the Thames and a few executions. The weekly mortality tallies show burials across parishes, while bread, salt, and stock prices are fixed by local authorities.
