A compilation of 1741 election call letters to electors in Southampton Leicester Oxford Cambridge Purlieu and Exeter. Candidates urge votes, promise loyal support, and note election dates in May and April with appeals to freeholders and corporations.
Place is wanted in the Custom-House Ex cise Scamp or office valued at one hundred fifty or two hundred per year. Letters for A B at Nando's Coffee-house Bar near Temple-Bar may lead to a purchaser. Shafton April 27 1741. Gentlemen educated at this School urged to dine at George Inn Shafton May 25. Stewards to be chosen for next year's meeting. Tickets available at the Inn.
An eighteenth century debt notice dated Septe mber 23 1740 from Covent Garden Playhouse by Nate of Hand drawn by Charles Cudworth. It demands payment within three months after date for 61 18s and interest. The reward of five shillings is offered to the bearer at the Fleece in the Haymarket for payment.
