London House Debates Tilt Against Bills and Masses Bay Policy
In the House of Commons debate a motion to suspend the Bolon port act for three years and a similar move on the Massachusetts Bay governance act for two to three years failed without division. A demand to address the King about requisitions to defend the American colonies also failed. Londons Guildhall sees a Common Council summons to discuss city constable jurisdiction amendments. Livery of London gathers at Half Moon Tavern Cheapside. Saxby chairs and Markall claims he authored the advertisement urging action for American brethren. The division on the original motion versus amendment favored the original 32 to 18, majority 14. The Earl of Bristol dies wealthy, passing estates and medals to the Crown and family. Accompanying dispatches note wrecks in the Windward Passage with crews lost, ships St Joseph and Magdalen among Philadelphia captains. Dover welcomes Rowley from St Kitts with new sugars. Shrewsbury reports several executions for crimes, while Derby and Lincoln verdicts and remands unfold. Limehouse fire causes heavy damage, water shortages hindered firefighting, Thames engine aids containment. Prices rise for meats and eggs in local markets. Promotions and deaths update officials and notable figures.
