The text transmits a British letter from Cadiz describing Spanish captivity of Britons, harsh conditions, and pleas for release. It contains a second wartime update from Munich on General Munich pursuing the enemy, harsh weather and supply shortages, Tartars suffer losses, and roving raiders reported.
Petersbourg March 12 reports a sequel to the Tartare Enterprise against Russia. Letters from Veldt Marshal Count Munich dated February 28 from Fort St Peter in the Ukrainian line describe driving the Crim from the Frontiers of Russia. He marches day and night along the River Saman toward other places where his equipage and lagging men suffer from the cold.
March reports from Hereford state William Summers and Joan Tippin were executed for house breaking after a penitent display and no confession. The hangman, intoxicated at the Tree, mistook three executions and nearly hanged the parson before the gaoler intervened. Gloucester notes seven people bound over to Gloucester Castle Gaol for robberies and two women jailed for two months in Cheltenham for retailing spirits.
London reports the Duke of Marlborough killed the King's Hand for command. Lady Holte of Afton near Birmingham has died at about 90, leaving a large jointure. Lady Davie of Creedy, Devonshire, widow of Sir John Davie, has passed away. Johan Fownes of Onslow Hall Shrewsbury, a barrister, died after a long illness. Frustees under Dr White's Will gathered at St Dunstan's Quest Room to choose a lecturer for the parish, with Rev. Mr Awells and Rev. Mr Fesrick receiving nine votes.
