Quebec assault and Montgomery's death sparks failed siege
From the London Gazette March 9 a transport brig reports Montreal army actions near Quebec on December 31. General Montgomery led a hope to storm the town but fell with aides and officers as Allied troops failed to breach the Lower Town. Arnold's force pressed a battery, but the garrison held. About 60 killed and 300 captured.

Spier stage farce The Spieen and SpLeen at Drury Lane
A review of Colman with Mo liere influence presents Eliza Rubrick’s secret marriage to Tom Merton, the schemes of Letitia and Aspin, and Doyley’s feigned illnesses. The plot unravels amid satire of medical pretensions and middle life foibles, with strong character work and witty dialogue.
