Open field farming urged over inclosures in Britain
The Old Fashion'd Farmer argues that open fields ensure steady wheat yields and public benefit, while inclosed lands depend on tenant will or landlord whim. He warns grazing shifts by landlords and moneyed tenants raise the gentler class, increasing beggars and taxes, risking liberty and national plenty. He cites historical cautions against closing pasturage and condemns current parliamentary acts under George III.
