Victory News From Buxar 1764 Major Monro’s Triumph
From the LonDON GAZETTE reports Major Hector Munro’s letter detailing a decisive victory by His Majesty’s Troops and the East India Company over the king’s forces and Vizier of Hindustan at Buxar on October 23. It lists 5,000 enemy troops, 130 cannon captured, and a heavy toll of killed and missing on both sides. Also notes subsequent confirmations from the Bengal presidency of a broader victory and troop returns.
