English itinerant oculist sought for satisfaction and reward

A fragmented public notice from Bath warns an itinerant English oculist traveling the country to make immediate amends to his son or risk having his name published and a reward offered for capture. It also urges interested clergy or laypeople with access to a living valued at 150 to 200 pounds yearly to contact Mr Dowling in Turner's Square Bedfordbury St. Martin's in the Fields for potential purchase or plea for favorable consideration. The ad promises secrecy and hints at a clerking or chaplaincy transfer, with terms for yearly stipend and duties if the possessor dies.

Militia Regiments Parade and Reviews Across Counties

London reports detail the Devizes Militia assembly marching to town for three volleys and field drills on a wet week, with Lord Bruce and Colonel Northey praised as officers. Ten thousand spectators witnessed their disciplined display and cheerful compliance, with marching plans toward Winchester later. Warwick and Norfolk Militia reviews follow near Whitsun Week, including the Prince of Wales’s birthday celebrations with balls and lavish notices of satisfaction from the Lord Lieutenant.
