Prize taken in Jamaica by Rhode Island privateers

Captain Lamprer of the Fane Privateer and Captain Hall of Jamaica Privateer fought a Spanish registered ship of 300 Tons with 22 guns and 700 men bound Cadiz to New Spain. After beaching near the Sugar Keys both ships were lost, 150 Spaniards landed, and the prize was taken to Jamaica. Cargo valued at 300,000 with 44 priests aboard.
