From the London Gazette July 1766 appointments and notices

Whitehall July 29 The King appoints James Brusby to be Governor of Madrid replacing Sta nier Porten. Letters patent pass for James Macpherson as Register of grants patents and records in West Florida and Alexander Duncan as Clerk of the Crown and Clerk of the Common Pleas in that province. Also William Lucas as Attorney General of Granada and the Grenadines and Tobago and John Macfarran as Solicitor General for those islands. Mourning orders for Aug 3 for Queen of Spain. Bankruptcy notices, dividends, and various notices follow. The piece discusses sympathy and charity sparked by a Barbados fire, with public appeals for donations.

Public Infirmary Proposal Meeting in Leicester 1766

Proposals presented to the High Sheriff and Grand Jury in Leicester for establishing a public infirmary with near two thousand pounds subscribed. A meeting at the Three Cranes is scheduled for Friday the 11th of September next at ten in the forenoon, with signatories including James Paces and Thomas Cave.
